Seasonal Stockist Playbook: Order Timing & Sharpening Win-Win

Running a salon or chair is easier when your suppliers and sharpeners stay one step ahead of the calendar. Use this seasonal playbook to lock in stockist orders, plan freight, and book technicians before peak rushes creep up.

How to read this guide

  1. Start with the Stockists & Sharpening hub and pick your city.
  2. Note freight lead times, authorised sharpeners, and seasonal events listed in each city guide.
  3. Plug the dates into the planner below and set reminders 4–6 weeks in advance.

Quarter-by-quarter plan

Q1 (January–March)

  • Key events: New-year makeover rush, Australia Day closures, storm season in QLD.
  • Actions:
    • Order replacement shears before Australia Day; couriers run reduced services.
    • Store silica gel in every case if you’re in humid cities—wipe blades twice daily.
    • Rotate backup shears while premium pairs go for sharpening post-holiday rush.
  • Checkpoints: Full maintenance log review; register any new warranty paperwork.

Q2 (April–June)

  • Key events: ANZAC Day long weekend, Hair Festival Sydney (June), start of EOFY planning.
  • Actions:
    • Order demo kits or new models 4 weeks before Hair Festival so you can test in person.
    • Bundle sharpening appointments around event travel—drop shears with techs at expos.
    • Prepare EOFY inventory counts; note which pairs need replacing in July.
  • Checkpoints: Ensure all warranties are registered; update the Warranty Tracker.

Q3 (July–September)

  • Key events: EOFY wrap-up, AFL finals, Spring Racing lead-up, Brisbane Hair & Beauty Expo.
  • Actions:
    • Restock and sharpen by mid-August to cover Spring Racing/bridal blitz.
    • Coordinate with mobile sharpeners (e.g., Blade Runner, Wicked Edge) for priority slots.
    • Rotate shears weekly using the Scissor Rotation Planner to balance wear.
  • Checkpoints: Audit loaner/backup pairs, replace tension screws or inserts as needed.

Q4 (October–December)

  • Key events: Formal season, Christmas/New Year rush, supplier shutdowns.
  • Actions:
    • Place final orders by early November to beat courier cut-offs.
    • Send backup shears for sharpening before December 1.
    • Prepare holiday kits for mobile stylists (clean cases, extra silica gel, maintenance logs).
  • Checkpoints: Budget for January servicing, archive all invoices for tax claims.
