Feather: The Brand and Where to Start
Feather has made replaceable-blade razors in Japan since 1932. Start with the Styling Razor and Standard blades, or the folding Artist Club SS.
Shop Feather productsFeather says it was the first Japanese company to make replaceable-blade razors. The trick is buying the blades that fit your handle.
Which blades fit which handle?
| Handle | Blades | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Styling Razor, Standard or Short Type | Styling-razor refills, such as Standard, Texturizing or WG | Standard and WG blades have the comb guard built in |
| Nape/Neck Type | Nape razor refills | Its own blade format |
| Artist Club SS | Professional blades, such as the PB-20 | A separate system from the styling-razor refills |
Check the blade code your handle specifies before you add refills to an order.
Which styling razor handle?
The Standard Type is a full-length straight handle, in seven colours. The Short Type puts the same head on a shorter handle for tighter placement around the face and fringe. The Custom Type folds and has a removable comb guard, and the Flex has a handle you shape to your grip.
Change the blade when the cut starts to drag, load it the way Feather says, and dispose of used blades safely. Prefer thinning scissors for weight work? See the thinning scissors instead.
