Salon scissor care
Clean scissors make for smoother work. Give each pair a short reset before it goes back into the trolley or case.
After a service
Clear hair from the blades and pivot. Clean or disinfect as directed by the maker and your salon’s hygiene practice. Dry the scissors before storing them.
At the end of the day
Check the blade action and tension. If the maker recommends oil, apply a small drop at the pivot and wipe away any excess. Put each pair in a protected slot.
For texturisers
Remove trapped strands from the teeth gently. Do not force the blades closed on a snag; stop and clear the obstruction first.
When to book service
A pair that folds hair, catches or needs extra pressure may need a tension adjustment or professional sharpening. Choose someone familiar with its edge; sharpening intervals depend on use and condition.
