Cleaning Salon Scissors Between Services
A clear salon scissor care routine: remove hair and product, follow disinfectant directions, dry the tool and care for the pivot.
Clean tools are easier to inspect and ready for the next service. Follow your salon’s hygiene procedure and the scissor maker’s care guidance for the products you use.
After a service
- Remove loose hair and product with a soft cloth.
- Disinfect according to the product label and your salon procedure, including the required contact time.
- Dry the blades, handle and pivot fully.
- Add a small amount of scissor oil at the pivot when needed, open and close gently, then wipe off excess.
- Store the scissors closed in a case, wallet or dedicated station space.
Thinning scissors need an extra look between the teeth, where clipped hair and product can collect. Clear debris gently before putting them away.
When a cut starts to feel wrong
