Scissor Care Basics

After use

Clear loose hair, wipe the blades dry and check the pivot. Store each scissor closed in a dry case or pouch, away from other metal tools. Use a small amount of scissor oil at the pivot as directed by the maker, then wipe away the excess.

When the cut changes

If hair starts to fold, pull or push at the tips, check for trapped hair and follow the model’s tension instructions. If it still cuts poorly, ask a professional sharpener experienced with your blade type to inspect it. Avoid taking apart the pivot unless the maker’s instructions call for it.
