Which two cutter lengths?
| Your day | A pair of lengths | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fringes and sections | 5.0” and 6.0” | Detail plus reach |
| Mostly everyday cuts | 5.5” and 6.5” | Two close sizes |
| Some over-comb work | 5.5” and 7.0” | A long blade for the comb |
These are starting points. The size guide shows how the inch size relates to the blade.
Master set or two singles and a thinner?
A master set suits you when you need all three tools now: one price, one order, matching handles.
Skip it if you already own a cutter you like. In that case add a thinner from the 10 thinning and texturising picks. Need only two tools? See the 10 cutter and thinner pairs.
Also under A$500: the Mina Jay II Master and the Ichiro Ash Gold Master. Both are right-handed.
Common questions
What’s in a master set?
Two cutters and one thinner. You choose the two cutter lengths in the selector, except on the Ergo Serrated Master, where the contents are fixed.
Can I choose two different cutter lengths?
Yes, on every set here except the Ergo Serrated Master. The variant name lists both cutters and the thinner, so read it before you add the set to your cart.
Is a master set good for an apprentice?
It can be, if your course list asks for two cutters and a thinner. Check your course kit list first: if it asks for one cutter, a cheaper pair may do.
What if the set doesn’t suit me, or a tool is faulty?
You have 14 days to change your mind, as set out on our returns page. The set must be unused and complete in its original packaging. You pay the return postage, and a 10% restocking fee applies. A fault is handled under the Australian Consumer Law; the ACCC explains your rights.
