Kasho: The Brand and Where to Start
Kasho is the salon scissor brand of the KAI group in Tokyo. Start with the Design Master, step up to the Blue series, or go to Millennium for SG2 steel.

Design Master: offset, straight or LEFTY?
All three have a semi-convex slice blade:
- Offset: a lower thumb position and a raised ratchet tension screw, in 5.0”, 5.5” and 6.0”.
- Straight: level rings, in the same three sizes.
- Offset LEFTY: a true left-handed version in 5.5” and 6.0”.
Matching Design Master thinners come in 15, 30 and 38 teeth, all 6”: the 15 for visible texture, the 38 for fine blending.
Barbers: the Silver Offset is one of three Kasho cutters that comes in 7.0”.
What about the Blue series?
The Blue Offset is a short cutter with a convex slice blade, in 4.5”, 5.0” and 5.5”. Pick it for close detail; there’s a straight-handle Blue too.
When is Millennium worth it?
When you want the top of Kasho’s range here. The Millennium Offset pairs an SG2 sword-style slice blade with an offset handle, in 5.5”, 6.0” and 6.5”. Kasho’s care page says Millennium needs no oil and no tension adjusting, unlike most of the range.
