5.5” or 6.0”?

Compare both against the pair you use now. The 5.5” cutters suit closer detail; the 6.0” cutters reach further across a section. Barbers and anyone doing a lot of over-comb should look at the 6.5” and 7.0” lengths too.

Offset or level rings?

  • Straight

    Both rings sit level, the classic layout. Thumb and finger rings are the same distance from the pivot.

  • Offset

    The thumb branch is shorter, so the thumb ring sits closer to the pivot. Most cutters we sell are offset.

  • Crane

    A sharper offset. The thumb branch bends, which changes the angle your hand holds the blades at.

Same blades, same pivot. Only the rings move, and that changes how far your thumb reaches.

Can you try or sharpen a pair in Melbourne?

We sell online, so you can’t try ours in a shop. If you’d rather hold a pair first, our store directory lists a scissor showroom in Ringwood and a sharpener who comes to salons in metro Melbourne. Ours can still be checked dry at home and returned unused within 14 days.

What do Victoria’s rules say?

Hair and barber businesses register with their local council. The Department of Health says hairdressing and barbering businesses can apply for an ongoing registration, and its guidance counts scissors among the tools that can accidentally break the skin. That’s why they get cleaned between clients, even when they look clean.
