VG-10 Steel for Salon Scissors

A common grade in professional cutters and matched sets.

What VG-10 tells you

VG-10 is a named stainless steel grade used in some salon scissors. It helps you compare materials, but the way a pair cuts also depends on the edge, blade length and setup. Two VG-10 scissors can serve very different jobs.

You will find VG-10 on selected Ichiro and Juntetsu listings. Check the particular model rather than assuming a whole brand uses the same steel.

Choose the job first

For mixed salon cutting, look for a length you can control through your usual sections. For fringe and detail work, consider a shorter blade; for over-comb work, a longer one may be useful. If your next need is blending, a matching thinner could matter more than changing your cutter’s steel.
