Choosing Thinning and Texturising Shears
Find the right tool for blending, weight removal and visible texture.
A thinner is not a shortcut for every heavy section. Choose it for the finish you want: a subtle blend, controlled weight removal or visible texture. Then test the first pass on a small section and comb out the cut hair before deciding whether to do more.

Tooth count is a useful starting point, but it does not tell you an exact removal percentage. Tooth shape, spacing, blade design and the hair in front of you also matter.
