Gifts for Hairdressers Under A$100: 7 Picks From Our Range

Seven gifts for hairdressers under A$100: care kit, oil pen, scissor case, comb set, leather sleeve, feathering razor and roll bag, with what to check.

By SalonScissors editorial team Updated

Four hairdressing gifts side by side: a scissor oil pen, a maintenance kit, a ten-piece comb set and a Juntetsu feathering razor.

Buy a hairdresser the thing they use every day and rarely replace: care supplies, a case or a razor. Scissors are personal, so under A$100 it’s kinder to let them choose their own pair.

How we chose: Seven gifts from our range, picked for daily use and the A$100 ceiling. We sell them and haven’t run tests. Checked 4 November 2026.

1. Scissor oil pen: the smallest useful present

Hair Scissor Oil Pen

Best for a brush-tip pen for pivot oil

Why it works: a brush tip puts a little oil on the pivot after the pair is cleaned and dried, without pouring from a bottle. It’s easy to wrap and useful for a student or a veteran.

Keep in mind: some pivots need no oil, so the maker’s care page decides. Our maker care instructions list what each brand says.

2. Mina two-scissor case: a cutter and a thinner, together

Mina Vegan Leather Hair Scissor Case

Best for keeping a cutter and thinner together between appointments

Why it works: it’s a zippered vegan-leather pouch with spaces for two shears and a slim space for an oil pen or comb. It suits someone who carries a pair to a second job or a course.

Keep in mind: scissors aren’t included. Check the product photos against the size of their handles.

3. Maintenance kit: the safe choice

Maintenance Kit: Clean, Oil & Fix Hair Scissors

Best for oil, cloth, brush, inserts and a tension key

Why it works: it needs no sizes or hands. The kit has a 3 ml oil brush, a cleaning cloth and brush, four finger inserts and a tension key.

Keep in mind: check that the key and the inserts fit before they’re used. A care kit doesn’t repair a damaged edge.

4. Ten-piece comb set: a trainee’s first station

Complete Hair Comb Set: 10 Piece Anti-Static Hairdressing Combs

Best for sectioning, guiding a cut and finishing a style

Why it works: ten shapes in one set means someone starting out has the working selection at the chair without buying each comb one by one.

Keep in mind: the product images show which shapes are included. If they’re in a course, they may prefer the combs their educator taught them.

5. Juntetsu leather sleeve: protection for the pair they love

Juntetsu Premium Single Scissor Protector - Hand-Stitched Leather

Best for one 5” to 7” scissor in stitched leather

Why it works: it’s a brown leather sleeve for one scissor with a snap closure, a simple way to carry the pair that goes between stations.

Keep in mind: it holds one scissor. They should slip in a clean, dry pair and seat the tips inside before fastening.

6. Juntetsu feathering razor: for someone who already feathers

Juntetsu Ergonomic Feathering Razor

Best for a guarded razor for softening ends

Why it works: the guard and light handle make it easy to place in a small section for soft, broken-up texture. You can choose the razor alone, or with ten replacement blades for a higher price.

Keep in mind: a razor is a different technique from scissors, so buy it for someone who already works that way. The blade should be changed when it stops cutting cleanly.

7. Roll bag: room for a full kit

Scissors Roll Bag (Wallet): Protecting Up To 12 Scissors

Best for twelve scissor slots with a covering flap

Why it works: the bag has twelve scissor slots, a flap and two buckle closures. Lay it open at the station, then roll it for travel. It comes in grey or black.

Keep in mind: scissors should be wiped dry before they go in, and the tips need to sit inside the flap.

Which gift for which person?

Who you’re buying forStart with
An apprenticeThe maintenance kit, then the comb set
A newly qualified stylistThe leather sleeve or the two-scissor case
A stylist with a large collectionThe roll bag
A barber or stylist who feathersThe feathering razor, if they already use one
Someone you can’t askThe oil pen and the maintenance kit together

Two small gifts often beat one bigger one. The oil pen and the care kit are both low in price, and together they cover the whole routine: clean, dry and oil. If you want the routine explained in the card, point them to our cleaning guide.

Want to give scissors instead?

Size, hand and handle are personal, and change-of-mind returns need an unused pair. The easiest gift is to let them choose. Our gift cards page explains how to ask about current options. If you know their pair, the scissor accessories guide matches care and carry gear to the kit.

What not to buy

  • Scissors, without knowing their hand and size. A right-handed pair is no use to a left-handed stylist.
  • Blade refills for a razor you haven’t seen. Check the razor’s blade code first.
  • A big case for one pair. A sleeve or two-scissor case fits better.

Common questions

What’s a good gift for a hairdressing apprentice?

The maintenance kit or the comb set. Both are useful from day one, and neither depends on a size or a hand.

Can I buy a hairdresser scissors as a gift?

Yes, if you know their hand, size and handle. If you don’t, ask us about a gift card so they can choose, or see our 10 best hair cutting scissors for options.

What if they already have one of these?

Change-of-mind returns are set out on our returns page. Items must be unused and in their original packaging, so keep the packaging until you know.
