How to Buy Salon Scissors Online With Confidence

Eight checks before you pay

Do these once you’ve got two or three listings open.

  1. Name the job

    Write down what the pair has to do: everyday cutting, close detail, over-comb or weight removal. Apprentices, keep your course kit list beside it.

  2. Match the exact model and option

    Save the full product name and the option you’d choose. A brand name narrows the range, but it doesn’t tell you the blade or handle of every model.

  3. Check the hand

    A true left-handed pair has its blades reversed, and some, like this Yasaka, say LEFT on the blade. Make sure the option you’re ordering says Left, not just the photo. Our left-handed guide compares them.

  4. Check the size against your pair

    The inch size measures the whole scissor, not the blade. Compare it with the pair you use now, and look for a blade length if the maker gives one. The size guide shows how to measure.

  5. Count every tool in a set

    List the cutter and the thinner on separate lines, then any extras. Choosing a cutter length often leaves the thinner at one fixed size.

  6. Add up the full price

  7. Read the returns before you cut

    Check the change-of-mind window, who pays return postage and whether a used pair can go back. Ours: 14 days if unused and in the original packaging, as set out on the returns page.

  8. Keep the paperwork

    Save the listing, your confirmation and the box. When the pair arrives, check it against your order with the arrival checklist before you use it.

Is the store an authorised dealer?

Ask the maker, not the store. A logo on a listing doesn’t tell you either way. Yasaka’s purchase page, for example, points buyers to its dealers and invites contact if you don’t have one.

Common questions

Is it safe to buy salon scissors online?

Yes, if the listing names the exact option and the store shows its delivery, returns and contact details before you pay. If one of those is missing, ask before you order.

Why are the same scissors cheaper somewhere else?

Check that it’s the same option first. A lower price can be a different size, hand or set, or leave out delivery. Compare the full price for the same tools.

What should I do if the wrong pair arrives?

Can I try scissors on hair and still return them?

Not for change of mind with us: we only take back unused pairs, so hold them to check the fit first. Other stores set their own rules, so read theirs. A faulty pair is covered by the Australian Consumer Law.
